Fraunhofer Institute in Dortmund developed an Artificial Intelligence based packing and handling unit solution: PUZZLE. This web-enabled utility takes an arbitrary bill of materials and tries to optimize the storage of the elements in a set of containers. The tool can display the optimization progress and the final handling unit in a graphical manner, a graphical editor allows further manual optimization of the packed items.
Logosworld.com in cooperation with OSCo and Fraunhofer Institute for Material Research developed an ESA bridge between SAP Application Server and PUZZLE. That way you can delegate the packing task from SAP directly to PUZZLE.
You specify the materials that should be packed and receive in return an hierarchical pack item tree.
